Hundreds of thousands of dogs suffer in puppy mills in this country. The dogs are prisoners of greed. They are locked in small cages. They freeze in the winter and swelter in the summer. The dogs never get out of their prisons. They are bred over and over again until they die. Those puppies are often sick and/or will develop genetic diseases later in their live. The only way to free them from the misery of these horrid puppy mills is to eliminate the demand for puppies by refusing to buy a puppy in a pet store and boycotting those pet stores that sell puppies. When people stop buying puppies in pet stores, the puppy mills will go out of business and the misery will end.

Furthermore, between 6 and 8 millions of healthy and adoptable cats and dogs (many are only babies) are killed in shelters every year because there aren’t enough homes available for them. By adopting instead of buying a dog or cat you will save a life. Also please remember to always neuter/spay your companion animals.

I was still shocked to see this price tag while browsing the website.  The true question is what do you get for $4000.00? In my opinion, a puppy with high price tag should not only meet standards but should be able to exceed and demonstrate them in showing.  Sire and Dam.  Ask yourself this, would you pay the same price for a vehicle that was made by Chevrolet  and Ford as vehicle that was made my Porsche and Lamborghini?  A $4,000 puppy should also show some of the good quality blood lines that easily recognized by AKC, bulldog clubs or other peers.  Some of the best European bloodlines are from BritishPride, Ocobo, Wencar, British Gladiator, and Edition of Luxe.  These breeders have been showing/breeding for years and earning awards based on their amazing quality of dogs.  There are also tons of top excellent American breeders as well.  Some of the best are Cherokee Bulldogs,  Phenix Bulldogs and Champ Bulldogs.

Long story short, would I pay $4,000 for a puppy?  Of  course I would, I was ready to purchase a puppy last month for $6,500 from Spain.  The thing is you got to do the research and see what you are buying.  Just like when you buy a car, you do the research first.  There are several European and American puppies that are worth that price tag, and when you see them(puppy and breeder),  you will know why they have been priced as is.

Whats an easy way to spot an importer, simple look for these signs
- Puppy availability, importers will almost always have puppies available for sale. They usually have contacts that can get them puppies in a hurry.

- Where is the Dam and Sire? 99% of the time importers don’t even own a dog of the breed they are selling. If you do find a puppy you like, simply ask for pics of the dam or sire. You also ask to have to send you pics verifying they own the either the dam or sire. If neither is available, this should raise some questions about the breeder or better known as the importer.

- Champion Bloodlines, most importers will say their puppy will have the best bloodlines of all time. If your really interested simply ask for a copy of the pedigree or some of the names such as the first two generations of the dog.

- Complaints, Complaints and Complaints.  If you suspect there is any warning signs from a potential importer, simply google or yahoo the importers name and/or website.  There is websites that will post complaints from people who were ripped off by importers.

- Common Sense, if for any reason you feel rushed “this is our last puppy and a lot of people have asking for it”, take your time and do your research.  There are plenty of responsible breeders in north America that are willing to sell a professionally raised bulldog.
